Among the most popular schools is the Cremonese School. The Cremonese school was established by a man named Andreas Amati, who lived between 1525 and 1611. Nicolaus Amata, who was a descendant of Andreas was known for his Grand Amati violins, which were distinctively larger than most violins, and had longer corners.
