Violin Music

The violin has its roots in an instrument called the lute, where a bow was applied in order to produce a sound. Later on, the viole came into being. The viole is a combination of a guitar and a fiddle which could be plucked like a guitar or bowed like a lute. The viole evolved into an instrument called the rebec, and this is where the appearance of the four strings debuted. The viole was further modified to include pegs on the neck and an hour glass shape on the body. The viole kept evolving to become what is now known as the violin. And since the violin was perfected by the famous Italian luthiers three hundred years ago, the construction of the violin has remained generally the same until today.

Some people are reluctant to pick up the hobby of playing the violin because they feel that violin music is too old fashioned or classical. This may be true because of the way violin music is composed. In fact, reading violin music sheets, or violin music in short, will come easy to those who are trained in classical music. The compositions are set out on musical staffs, which are basically the rows of five parallel lines that run along the music sheet. A staff starts out with either a G, C or F clef. This determines what key the violin music will be played in. Each note that is written on a line or space has a corresponding letter which is either C, D, E, F, G, A, B and back to C again. The fingers are positioned according to the notes on the staff, and the bow is played according to the style of the composition as written on the music sheet.

What most people do not realize is that among all the instruments that are used in an orchestra, the violin is the most versatile. That is because the violin can produce such a wide range of tones unlike any other instrument. That is also why there are a lot of composers of violin music from the classical era as well as in the modern times. But regardless of the period from which the violin music was created, it is often observed that violin music sounds elegant and sophisticated. It is not uncommon to hear violin music wafting through a church at a grand wedding, or at an elegant ball, where the violin is played by a solo performer or an orchestra. Whichever way the violin is played, the sound or music that is produced is always impressive and gives any environment a dash of culture and grace.

With that being said, it is always a good idea to start learning how to play the violin no matter what stage of life you are in. You can learn how to play the violin whether you are young or old. As long as you have a lot of determination and the discipline to practice regularly, you can become a master violinist and produce beautiful violin music.
